DRAGANA (formerly known as Athens Mountain Singers) performs a cappella vocal music from Eastern Europe and the Balkans, featuring raw, haunting polyphony. Dragana is Amy Bonnaffons, Claire Campbell, Andrea DeMarcus, Jesslyn Shields, SJ Ursrey, and Alys Willman.
Based in Athens, GA, Klezmer Local 42 delivers a high-energy, "twisted" take on traditional Jewish folk music. Founded in 2009 by Dan Horowitz, Daniel Promislow, and Noel Beverly, the ensemble—now featuring Joe Ellison, Adam Poulin, Bud Freeman, Eddie Glikin, Rabbi Eric Linder, Scotty Nicholson, and Philip Kohnen—blends ancestral klezmer with classic rock, hip-hop, Latin music and even sea shanties. Singing in everything from Yiddish to "Pirate-Talk," this internationally touring group creates a sound that is as deeply emotional as it is danceable.
