Gazee, Hunlo and Johnny Falloon

Gazee:

Natalie Newbold took a beat to refocus, lean in, and trust her instincts for latest project, Gazee (pronounced gāz-ē).

A seasoned pillar of the East Coast music scene, Newbold has occupied various roles spanning guitarist to drummer in bands Well Wisher and dollys (respectively), as well as the present touring bassist for The Front Bottoms– contributing lead or support vocals across the board. And so, the multi-hyphenate artist is undeniably equipped to write and perform every component of her upcoming LP; a challenge she proposed to herself as an exercise in artistry and autonomy.

At the heart of the project is introspective and heartfelt songwriting. Each track sports a signature 90’s flair, decorated with heavy, shoegazey guitars, roomy drums, and catchy vocal melodies– dreamy and nostalgic, while simultaneously maintaining a fresh and compelling composition. The distinguished vocal prowess and poetic lyricism that drew fans in from the start is ever-present but has developed with a more sophisticated tone.

Hunlo:

HUNLO is a singer/songwriter and musician based in Athens, GA. This project is sonically inspired by rock, r&b, folk-soul and western twang. The writing is parallel yet perpendicular to the feelings and questions about love and the vague reason humans are on earth. All standing on simplicity and honesty to share this revelation with you. Hunlo is also a member of the Athens-based group lighthearted.

Johnny Falloon:

There’s a stigma about Athens music: The B-52s and R.E.M. paved the way, and the acts that follow are destined to live in their shadow. Johnny Falloon begs to differ. The no-wave quartet evoke an alternate vision for the city that birthed alternative rock. With meandering saxophone, blistering guitar and drums, and sharp staccato vocals, the band is bringing the cutting-edge back home.

Since forming in a dilapidated house in 2022, Johnny Falloon has evolved from a fuzz-rock inspired trio into a more avant-garde group that mixes the propulsion of IDLES with John Coltrane’s free jazz virtuosity. Their debut album, Tell Hell I’m Not Coming [2025], is a collage of lullabies (“Little Bird”), searing roars (“Diamonds”), and frenetic epics (“Dragon Law”). It teeters between hardcore and psychedelic, with vocalist John Edmonson’s eerie and impassioned verses leading the way.

In just over two years, they’ve become a staple of the Athens scene, making a name for themselves with ear-ringing live performances. Yet their sights are set beyond their home base–with upcoming dates at SXSW and Valley of the Vapors Fest in Hot Springs, AR, they plan on spreading their southern flair far and wide. Looking toward bands like Thee Oh Sees as a blueprint, Johnny Falloon’s main goal is to keep making music together, no matter how weird it gets.
